Role: Tractor Driver

Hours: Permanent, Full time, 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday

Location: Colchester (Farm based, near Colchester)

Salary: £30,000- £35,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

They produce a very recognisable product that we see in regular exemplary supply in our local supermarket chains. Setting high standards, there are 2 openings for experienced Tractor Drivers on a permanent basis to join their successful team.

The Role

 

As a skilled tractor driver, your responsibilities will include, completing maintenance duties, and all general farm task. You will be expected to be able to carry out tasks using farm implements e.g. Spraying, fertiliser, drilling, cultivations, and irrigation, no name a few.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Driving and carrying out regular maintenance on tractors and other agricultural equipment
  • Operate Tractors and machinery safely and efficiently
  • Carry out daily routine checks on vehicles to ensure they are safe to operate, and any faults are reported to the growing manager
  • To ensure that health and safety is always adhered to and that all incidents and accidents are reported to the management team
  • The spraying and fertiliser application on indoor and outdoor crops
  • To assist with the drilling of baby leaf crops both indoor and outdoor
  • To assist with cultivations where required across the farm
  • The setting up and movement of irrigation equipment
  • The movement of agricultural equipment, produce or other items with a tractor or trailer
  • General farm tasks, such as green burning, hoeing, crop cover, sanding and site maintenance

 

Personal Specification:

 

  • Must be hard working and physically fit due to the demand of the job responsibilities
  • Must be punctual wit good time keeping
  • Have the ability to carry out duties unsupervised, in all weather conditions, irregular hours, as required
  • Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of health and safety
  • Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instruction

 

Skills we require:

 

  • Previous experience driving modern agricultural equipment
  • A good level of spoken English is desirable
  • A full clean driving licence
  • PA1 and PA2 are both required
  • Forklift/Teleporter certificates ideal but not essential

You will need to demonstrate the ability to perform diagnostics and repairs on agricultural or turf equipment proficiently whilst protecting the departments profitability. This will be from both the depot and at customers premises.

Through your knowledge and experience advise customers on optimisation techniques for their machines and products and services offered. Understand the manufacturers customer care process.

You must comply with all Health and Safety legislation, Company Policies and Procedures, to ensure safety of all staff, customers, and visitors. Complete all reports and administration required for work assignments on time.

Ensure own and company tools are stored neatly and in their correct locations and are adequately maintained.

Maintain a clean workstation, company vehicle, and associated areas.

Knowledge of agricultural equipment would be preferred but full training on products and systems and will be provided.

Ideal Person Skills and Qualifications:

MUST have a UK driving license, as there will be a need to drive company vehicles and agricultural equipment.

They support their livestock farmers with their processes, by offering solutions, consisting of feed, advice and management tools.

Each week the company produces up to 3000 tonnes of animal feeds.

Their feeds are based on a blend of traditional raw materials and modern technology, resulting in the best possible quality and value for money.

The animal feed mill uses cereals and fresh wheat feed products, together with quality protein sources such as rape meal and soya bean meal. Almost half the raw materials used in the animal feed mill comes from nearby mills, reducing the need for road transport and minimising the carbon footprint of the products.

Quality control is one of the most important functions within my client’s animal feed mill. Samples of raw materials and finished products are tested by trained technicians in the onsite laboratory to ensure that all feeds meet the strict quality criteria.

All the feeds manufactured at the mills are vegetarian. No animal proteins are used. My clients produce bulk farm feeds for dairy cows, beef, sheep, pigs and poultry and bagged smallholder feeds for a complete range of animals, specialising in horses, poultry, pigs, sheep, cattle, goats, camelids and rabbits.

Services to customers include full dairy costings, computerised ration formulation, forage analysis and specialist advice. A team of qualified animal nutritionists is available to advise our customers and ensure that our products continue to be the best that money can buy.
